Construction Progress |
|
The Portiuncula in Omaha takes the shape of the Tau. It gives attention to spirituality, materiality, and simplicity. It focuses on natural light using basic, elemental, and natural materials. |

Phase 1 of the project is a 5.2 million dollar undertaking. For its completion, the Sisters need 2 million which makes the launching of the pledge program important as well as imperative. Any contribution you can make will be so greatly appreciated. |

- The Bell is made out of Bronze and weighs 606 pounds.
- The casting and tuning of the Bell was done in France.
- The Bell was blessed by Rt. Rev. Abbot Theodore Wolff, OSB on September 15, 2010 before it was installed in the Bell Tower.
- The Bell of Peace will ring three times daily (6 AM, 12 noon, and 6 PM).
Inscription on the 606 pound bronze bell records the date of the laying of the cornerstone; proclaims that Christ is the Cornerstone of the Portiuncula in Omaha; and that it is a "Bell of Peace" for the world.
